This collection of images has been a growing interest for me over the years. I often discover some amazing beauties during my adventures in the backcountry. More recently I have made special trips just to track down and capture images of flowers in places as close as my backyard and others far away.

Lawn Daisy

Beacon Hill park has lovely gardens to enjoy. This little snippet of colour was part of a much larger rock garden filled with a variety of flowers. Every trip to the park brings new scenes of flowers to enjoy, this trip took place April 2, 2016.

Rhododendron

My backyard has a couple of lovely Rhododendrons that have amazing flowers every spring. This image was captured on May 11, 2024 and shows a small snippet of the whole shrub.

Autumn Trail

This lovely scene of a trail through the trees can be found next to the cliff edge in Rattlesnake Point Conservation Area in southern Ontario. The path travels alongside the Niagara Escarpment in the conservation area and provides access to several viewpoints and places where rock climbers can access the cliff face. It a popular destination year-a-round, but the fall is particularly scenic, this scene was taken on October 12, 2018.

Thimble Berry

Thimble Berries are a very delicate berry, the blossoms are also quite tiny and fragile. Despite their frailty, they can be very pretty when seen from close- up. This image was captured from a small bush in my backyard.

Office Rose - Water Colour

This little beauty was found struggling to present a lovely sight right in the midst of traffic and exhaust fumes. Discovered on August 4, 2002 on the edge of the parking lot of my office, I found the rose to be a testimony of nature’s strength and perseverance in the face of man’s tendency to pave over everything. The tenderness of the petals and colour graduations are a reminder of the creativity of nature – each living thing is unique in some way.

Giant Green Anemone

This huge anemone was minding its own business looking for some small fish to enjoy when I came by on March 24, 2007. I wonder if the light from the flash was even noticed by the creature? The number of tentacles they have and can control is quite amazing.
