Exploring Victoria
I took a few days to relax in Victoria and to explore a new summit and some seashore viewpoints
Shore Pine Trail
It was a lovely day for hiking along the trails in Lighthouse Park
A Stroll Through Blackie Spit
Close to home but still a lovely spot for an encounter with nature
Sights on the East Harrison
It turned out to be a great day for enjoying the sights on the East Harrison FSR
The Cold West Harrison
A cold day out on the roads with barely anyone else to find
Big Silver River Delta
Back to the Silver River to see what the summer fires had left for us
Hiking Vedder Peak
A perfect day for a lovely hike through a forest to a summit to talk with distant people via our ham radios
Indian River
It was another try at reaching the northern tip of Indian Arm by road, we got closer!
Seymour, the mountain
An ideal day for hiking and a challenging target to tame
Agassiz in Smoke
Our hike up Mt. Agassiz went well until we reached the summit viewpoint, there was nothing there!
Mt. Laughington
Such a beautiful day for a ridge-line hike, with a bit of radio tossed in for fun
A hike up Mount Zoa
An ideal day for a hike on Mt. Zoa with the autumn colours just starting to show
The Bear in Victoria
Another lovely time of relaxation in Victoria, this time with some hiking tossed in
Lighthouse Park in the Smoke
A pleasant stroll through the trails but the smoke in the air hid the view
McKee Peak
Small but popular, a mountain on the edge of town
Mt. Hollyburn with Snow
One thought that by mid-July the summit would be snow free, well, it was not
Blackie Spit, Crescent Beach
A lovely spot nearby that one seldom gets to
Mt. Woodside on the Air
Ralph and I returned to Mt. Woodside to operate our radios in the Summits on the Air program
Hunter Creek
A short but adventuresome excursion into the back country
Sumas for two
A great day for hiking and so Carolyn and I set out for Sumas Peak to enjoy our lunch with a view.
Anderson River Valley
A lovely day to get out and see how this beautiful area has changed. At least that’s what we wanted to do.
Silver River Power and Beyond
Zebra striped rock exposed in a narrow river gorge is always very pretty
Grant Hill
Yes, finally a trip back into the hills, too many months since my last visit!
Lost Creek in the Snow
X-Ray vision would have helped for the drive out of the hills as the snow was coming down so fast!
The Drive Back (Day 11)
Wind and cloud followed us today as we drove the back roads to Toronto
Port Stanley and John E. Pearce Park (Day 8)
Virtually a summer day, so warm and sunny but with the trees in vibrant colour
Lake Line and Parts West of Port Stanley (Day 7)
Unusually warm, the wind and bright sun made for a good morning to be out shooting
Roberts Line (Day 6)
Today was a lovely warm day, ideal for enjoying the backroads and the change of colour
Niagara-on-the-lake and Welland Canal (Day 4)
Sunny weather and interesting sights were the backdrop for the day’s adventure
Exploring the West Cambridge area (Day 3)
Resuming our search for color brought us northwest to the Cambridge area
Niagara Region (Day 2)
Quality time driving through the farms makes up for an uncooperative environment
Mt. Mercer
Pleasant hiking after a challenging road up the side of the mountain makes back country exploration fun
Agassiz and Woodside
Quick hiking was needed to complete two summits on a single day.
SunFlower
A giant Sunflower and a Dwarf Sunflower growing in my yard
Slollicum, Lookout and the far north
Personally, I really like exploring the East Harrison area, there is so much to find here and it is easy to access
Black Mountain
Our first steep hike together, it was not too difficult and the scenery well worth the effort
Vedder Mountain
Next up, the Vedder Mountain First Time Activation
Mt. Cheam Re-activated
My most often climbed Summit, still an amazing view and experience.
SOTA on Zoa with Cara
Life is good when one can hike a good summit trail with their wife.
Silver Pine Adventure
Key to my love of the Harrison area is the endless variety of the many different regions that comprise this area
Mt. Hollyburn in Cloud
Journey to the Unknown or so the hike up Hollyburn seemed as we made our way through the cloud
Return to Lindeman
It has been years since I last hiked into Lindeman Lake, What a change!
Elaho? A missing forest
Huge black toothpicks are all that remains of the majestic Elaho Forest
Sumas in the Fog
Grungy weather but still a great hike to the summit
Sowaqua Part Two
Fantastic views from the southern section along with an amazing alpine valley
Lincoln and Ralph
For each step up there seems to be two on the way down when hiking a steep trail like Mount Lincoln’s
Chehalis Peak
Extremely satisfying is how I would summarize my hike to the summit of Chehalis
Victoria Again
Definitely a great week-end to enjoy a time of rest in Victoria
Anderson Valley and the Tsileuh
Capturing the beauty of the hills can be a very relaxing pursuit as one drives through nature, until a challenge presents itself.
Ocean Park
Best day in quite some time to enjoy a walk along the beach
